Cruises And Theft

Life on a cruise ship is just so different. The whole atmosphere is so relaxed and easy going. This is a good reason to be on your guard to keep your things safe. Here are some tips for preventing theft while on a vacation cruise.

Before boarding the ship, you should sign a waiver releasing the cruise line company of any stolen property. It will be a big hassle if your things are stolen while you are on the ship. You would have to file a lot of police reports, and the ship security won't do much to find the stolen items because they couldn't just search all the passengers and crewmembers. Prevention is crucial to ensure a hassle free travel tour cruise.

The cruise ship has safety boxes for the storage of valuables. Take advantage of these especially if you have expensive jewelry or other pricey items that you won't be carrying with you everyday. You shouldn't rely on hiding your valuables in your room.

You shouldn't bring too much cash. You won't have much need for cash while you're onboard. You can pay your tab at the end of your trip. You can use your credit card, and know that there are bank machines in ports. Make a list of your credit card institutions, the card numbers and bank contact details. Remember that this list should be kept separate from your credit cards, and you can even give it to a family member to keep. You may also want to consider getting traveller's checks, which are quite convenient.

In a cruise ship, there can be a dishonest person or more aboard. Don't let your guard down and keep your wallet or purse close to you. While you're at the pool make sure a family member watches over your valuables. Though pickpockets are rare, keep your wallet in your front pocket. Never leave money or jewelry out in your room; it can be a temptation for dishonest crewmembers. Always know where your room key is and make sure to shut your cabin door securely.

If you see anyone that appears to be suspicious report it to security. Also have your kids understand that they should still not talk to strangers even if they are on a cruise where everyone is so friendly.

Taking a cruise is sure to be a "once in a lifetime" vacation that will bring you years of wonderful memories. You just have to take certain precautions. You should keep your valuables safe, don't bring too much money, and make sure to report anything suspicious.
