The South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, generally known as Zona Sul, includes various areas, amongst which are Sao Conrado, Leblon, Ipanema, Arpoador, Copacabana and Leme. Theses beach locations represent Rio de Janeiro's most popular Atlantic shoreline in Brazil.

In particular, Copacabana and Ipanema is the place where all of the travelers like to spend their vacation. There are a host of budget friendly rio apartments for rent along with high-class rio penthouses for people who want the ultimate family vacation experience. Real estate property in rio de janeiro has become very costly so be ready for very high costs especially during Carnaval and New Years.

The community of Copacabana beach presents one of the earth's most breathtaking New Year's Eve parties (Reveillon), as more than 2 million individuals crowd onto the sands to view the fireworks show.

To the north of Leme, and also at the entrance to Guanabara Bay is the region of Urca as well as the Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar), whose title describes the renowned mountain rising out from the sea. The peak can be reached by way of a two-stage cable car journey from Praia Vermelha with a stop on Morro da Urca. It gives you sights second only to Corcovado mountain.

Hang gliding can be a popular hobby on the nearby Pedra Bonita. Following a brief flight, gliders land on the Praia do Pepino in Sao Conrado. Since 1961, the Tijuca National Park, the greatest city-surrounded urban forest and the 2nd biggest city woodland on the planet, has been a National Park. The biggest city woodland in the world is the Floresta da Pedra Branca, which is also found in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The 1984 movie Blame it on Rio had been filmed close by, with the rental home utilized by the story's characters sitting at the edge of the forest on a mountain overlooking the prominent beaches.
