A trip to Italy can make for a perfect holiday for anybody, replete with all the historical and cultural significance of such a place. Take a trip to Lucce for an amusing look at a Roman colony from years gone by. Access the town center by moving through a path on top of a brick wall which encloses this area -- viewing it is redolent of the sixteenth century, around the time the wall was put up. You can find a wealth of historical churches and monuments in the city. Some of the many cathedrals in Italy include the Cathedral of San Martino (from way back eleventh century) and Foro's Church of San Michele which is distinguishable by its handsome Roman-inspired marble facade and artwork and design that dates back to the twelfth to fifteenth centuries. Find out what real music is about by visiting Giacoma Puccini's fifteenth century home, called Casa de Puccini, as you may surmise; it now serves as a musical school and museum. Visit Lucce National Picture Gallery and enjoy the many varieties of artwork by a number of great Italian artists you may or may not have heard of -- some of these individuals are Agnolo Bronzine Domenico, Boccafini and Luca Giondone, and you can see their works from the rises which measure one hundred thirty feet. For a quaint look at small town Italian culture, relax and unwind at Lake Como and/or Torre Guinigi. If you are looking for a fantastic botanical garden and museum, then check out eighteenth-century vintage Villa Carlota. Fiesole features a roman amphitheater and roman baths dated back to 1BC. For the avid cyclist, check out the trails in Florence hill, which is conveniently located nearby.
Sicily
Sicily is known for it's burning volcanoes like Mt. Etna and should be visited during your tour of Italy for this reason alone. Sicily also offers wonderful Italian culture, shopping and entertainment for the whole family.
Venice
Venice is a sight to behold with it's sweeping gondolas traveling the waterway streets and it's old world flavor. For the most brilliant view of the waterways, we suggest Venice's Ponte di Rialto, a bridge dating back to the sixteenth century that is also a great place to meet and greet people, go shopping and take all the photos you want to take. To relax and unwind, you can visit St. Mark's Square, a place teeming with numerous Italian-style cafes. The Basilica di San Marco is an historic place mainly because this is where Gallileo unveiled his very first telescope to a sceptical audience. Another photo-opt spot you might want to visit (provided you are there in late August to early September) would be the Venice Film Festival -- perfect for anybody tired of the same old trite, over-budget Hollywood "blockbuster."
Rome
Rome is filled with art, architecture, history and religion. Traveling to Rome would often require that you keep up with their stylish denizens, so it would be a good idea to get yourself a comfortable pair of shoes at one of the many shoe stores in the city, or bring yourself a couple trendy pairs of kicks. Visit the Colosseum, dating back to 80 AD where roman emperors amused themselves and the Roman citizens with gladiator games, sporting events, and theater productions. And you cannot leave out the Sistine Chapel in your plans. The painted ceilings of Michelangelo are often named as the greatest artwork in all of history. Your Roman holiday, no pun intended, would also benefit from a trip to the Pantheon Temple, so make that a part of your plans too.
