A Brief Description Of The Biggest Airports In The World

The biggest airports in the world are located in a number of different continents. Many are constructed in relatively rich areas. Some are recipients of significant numbers of tourist arrivals every year. The dimensions of an airfield directly affects the time period between flights. That means travelers spend fewer hours waiting in buildings. Long runways are easier for large planes to land on.

While physical dimensions help onlookers to determine which facilities are the biggest, other features are important. People also consider the number of international arrivals. The amount of cargo that is transported through the space also affects their decision.

Denver International is the airport that many believe to be the second largest. It has made a name for itself with the strange paintings that adorn its walls. The strong, thin roof of Jeppesen Terminal is constructed using fiberglass and Teflon. These two materials make it very strong despite its extreme thinness.

Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson has a huge amount of traffic every day. This one is the busiest of all the facilities located across the globe. The center for transportation is located seven miles away from the central business district. London Heathrow is extremely busy. It receives more than forty million arrivals, transfers and departures every year. The buildings are just over ten miles from the city.

Chaoyang in Beijing Capital is the largest in Asia. It sees more than fifty million travelers in a year. Its area is over five hundred square miles. A lot of foreign and domestic carriers serve the airport. The Dragon Terminal or Terminal Three, is built to save energy and maximizes natural light.

All the international tourists who come into Japan generally go through Tokyo Narita International. The complex is located less than ten miles from Tokyo Station. This center of air transportation is accessible by train and bus from the other major cities in Japan. It is far more busy than Haneda, which mostly receives domestic travelers.

The Middle East is known as a wealthy area. Several of the most expensive homes across the globe are located in Saudi Arabia. Thus it is not surprising that Riyadh in Saudi Arabia is home to one of the biggest airports in the world. It has a very tall control tower and is built on over eighty square miles of land.
