The Urca area is a treasure, can certainly be seen in 1/2 a day and can certainly be combined with viewing Sugarloaf and/or Praia Vermelha. Don't miss the possibility to get away from the typically congested and frantic beach regions and spend time with the local people in this very safe, quaint, as well as elegant spot.

A number of gorgeous and pristine beaches are located inside an hours drive down the sea-coast from Rio. They are mostly empty during the weekdays and offer a peaceful escape from the busy city life. Barra da Tijuca, Recreio de Bandeirantes, Prainha and Grumari are usually the most obtainable beaches. If you don't want to rent a car to make the day excursion, then ride the low-cost Surf Bus which usually makes several stops at hotels and apartments along both Ipanema and Copacabana beaches.

Morro do Leme (Leme Mountain) is a Rio de Janeiro sightseeing metropolitan forest that stands several hundred feet in height and it's situated at the end of Leme and Copacabana Beach. You can go out about the bottom of it over the paved sidewalk to see the fishermen as well as look back at Copacabana Beach. The real treat will be to go into the military and guarded environmental area and walk up the winding cobble stone road through the Mata Atlantica (Atlantic Coastal rainforest) up to the old Forte do Leme. From the top you are afforded unobstructed views of a Sugar Loaf and all of Copacabana Beach. Along the route and at the very top, you can find groups of small monkeys in the trees.

Forte de Copacabana provides an uncomplicated Rio de Janeiro sightseeing afternoon if you want to take in a little military background during holiday and if you enjoy viewing cannons as well as a hardened bunker. It is a simple walk from anyplace in Copacabana and inside the Fortification you'll have some great photograph opportunities. The views up and down the shoreline are wonderful.

Parque Lage was in the past a privately owned mansion that included an extensive tropical forest with modest ponds connected by water ways as well as foot bridges. It's now a movie and arts school and hosts numerous cultural activities from the old mansion. This Rio de Janeiro sightseeing activity is set in a park positioned behind the Lagoa and rests at the foot of Corcovado mountain. In addition, it offers a kick off point for demanding directed nature hikes up Corcovado to Christ the Redeemer Statute.

The Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is a bit more also known as the "Lagoa". It is actually among the more preferred Rio de Janeiro sightseeing outdoor exercise areas, although can often be neglected by the international visitor. It is a good sized salt water lagoon that is situated right behind the Ipanema area. It's encompassed by the high end communities of Lagoa, Leblon, and Gavea.
