Business Travel Luggage Options

If you're on a business trip, you'd usually leave your spouse at home, but won't leave home without luggage. It is more important than ever to be specific about the type of luggage you bring along, with airlines getting more creative with charging luggage fees.

You don't need to worry about the fees (yet) if you're flying in the upper classes - first and business. But when it comes to smart and economical travel, business travelers need to be prepared for everything and what options they have at their disposal.

Traveling can be confusing these days because whether luggage is checked or carried on, there are so many options out there. But why go through all these options when you can travel light for added security and less costs involved?

That doesn't lessen the importance of ensuring security and completeness by packing everything needed for the trip in a compact manner. Luggage comes in all sizes, colors and prices and there is a bag that will fulfill your need be it on-line or in a department store.

If you want to make sure you have everything with you, you can try getting yourself a rolling business case. These include a removable garment sleeve, computer case, a toiletry kit and ample room for other necessities. You cannot go wrong with the convenience and versatility provided by these bags. These bags also contain a garment sleeve which can fit about one or two suits - this is an ideal type of luggage for business trips lasting half a week.

Carry-on bags should never, ever be checked by customs. Most briefcases, travel totes and plastic garment covers are not designed to be checked. These are excellent for carrying on items you don't want to lose such as medications, prescriptions and keys. A tote bag, on the other hand, can be checked easily or carried on as well.

Traveling with a laptop? There are several options for travelers who do not want their laptop mixed with other luggage and oftentimes abused by careless baggage staff. Laptop cases come in both crush proof and corrosion proof and many are also watertight, airtight and dust proof. Female business travelers can opt for colorful and feminine-themed laptop cases.

Today's carrying systems are automated and more advanced than before, so an older bag may not be too advisable to bring along. You may need to get yourself a new bag. It is not advisable to have breakable items checked, but if you really need to, then use harder covers rather than softer ones for protection. And remember, no dangling straps or hangers.

To roll or not to roll? It depends on how light you're traveling and how much you can tote around. No doubt, wheels make carrying much easier for baggage to be checked.

This is a cardinal rule you have to follow - don't leave luggage unguarded and pick it up immediately upon arriving at your destination.

There are specific dimensions for your carry on luggage. A carry on bag, or bags, should not weigh more than 40 pounds or be any longer than 45 linear inches. Simply add your bag's length, width, and height to get the number of linear inches.

Business travelers no longer take anything related to luggage sitting down. If you wish for a simple, friendly and hassle-free business trip, you need to do your homework and shop around wisely for the best luggage to bring on the trip.
