A sound game plan can make any travel excursion more enjoyable and stress-free. Whether you are going for a business travel or pleasure trip, make sure you have all the necessary items required for a pleasant trip. With the numerous travel options available nowadays, one no longer has to book travel through a travel agency. Not to mention, the Internet is also a place where travelers can look for all sorts of money-saving deals. Here are ten things every traveler must have or keep in mind of to ensure their safety and peace of mind.

Information, Information, Information. Bring as many maps as you need, especially if you will be visiting multiple destinations. Just start ahead of time if you have several spots to go and if you are going alone just have a knowledge of the routes prior to starting your journey lest you get lost.

Personal Items. You must be sure that your personal items are in your possession before making your trip. Toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, comb, makeup, towels, clean undies and of course, a wallet with money are all necessary for every trip. A handy pouch or handbag can be used for toiletries and you may want to leave a convenient place in your wallet to hold your tickets, passports and other essential documents.

Medicines for First aid. Just ensure that you take all those medicines with you which you have on a regular basis and also first aid kit in case of any emergency.

Footwear. Your footwear must match the nature of your trip. Prioritize comfort in your choice of footwear if your trip would include a tour of different attractions. If your trip involves sports like hiking or wake boarding, bring your footwear accordingly.

Apparel. While selecting your apparels, make sure they are according to the weather conditions prevailing over the destination of your travel. Wrinkle free clothes are ideal .

Guide book. Don't leave your Frommer's at home if you have one, or any other type of travel guide book that can help in your planning.

Tote Bag (Preferably a Large One). Take a large tote bag tucked inside your suitcase. This bag can be used to put the additional purchased items and carried out as another bag.

Security for luggage. In short, a key to your luggage - it is very prudent to make sure you have an extra key handy and guard against the possibility of the original key being misplaced or lost.

Insurance. There will always be the chance of visiting a country where public transportation is not the best way around town. This is when you would want to rent a car to get around. Avoid the humiliating experience of paying for damages you did not incur by having the car rental clerk note down any pre-existing damage in the vehicle.

Labels. All your pieces of luggage must be duly labeled on the inside and outside - this is the last thing you should make sure you do before traveling. Placing your address on the outside of your luggage greatly helps in the event cavalier airport staff may misplace it.
