If you are interested in exploring the countryside, doing so by train will give you the opportunity to do a lot of sightseeing without worrying about the cost of gas, or about getting lost. Think of how fun it would be to just put away your luggage and only relax on your trip. Thanks to the availability of snack cars, sleeping cars and dining cars, traveling by train allows you to enjoy your trip without a worry in the world.

Not many people travel by train any more, but there are stations in big cities and small towns alike. Train travel has decreased thanks to car travel and traveling by airplane. When traveling by train, you have to leave plenty of time to get to your destination as it will take longer than you are used to. But, if you travel by train, you will not only get to your destination, but you will enjoy the trip as well.

All large cities, including New York, Washington DC, San Francisco and Boston, have stations that are in operation every given day. With many smaller connecting stops throughout the US, you can go also most anywhere by train. Ticket prices are going to be different, depending on where your destination is and on the type of service you wish to receive.

Traveling through Europe by train is more common than in the United States in part because train tickets are less expensive. Ride the Eurorail for one low price anywhere you want. A Eurorail pass will allow you to visit many countries and see the main attractions. Passes can be used over and over again, which will give you the opportunity to see more without having to spend money on train tickets. If you want to visit France one day and Spain the next, you can. Many college students and others take advantage of the low prices and are able to see many sights in Europe. The United Kingdom has a similar pass called the Britrail pass, which allows travelers to see much of the UK without having to spend much money.

Traveling by train is a way to ensure you will spend less and you will see more. Train trips can last from a few hours to a few days depending on where you are going. If you want to experience something new, or if you want to do a bit more sightseeing while traveling, you should give a train trip a chance. Just be sure you plan for the longer travel. If you are buying a Eurorail pass, be sure to keep a schedule handy, so that you can make the most of the trains available. For those who have never traveled by train before, once you have, you will want to use trains more often.
