The sport of hunting cute and cuddly rabbits may be somewhat of a cruelty to some; however, this kind of hunting activity is a traditional sport that needs a lot of talent as well as patience. In addition, the sport of rabbit hunting can provide a lot of excitement.

Most people choose to hunt rabbits with a dog. This is because using a dog can help bring the rabbit out into the open or can help draw the hunter towards the area in which the rabbits are more prolific. A dog can also serve as a great companion to hunting, enabling the hunter to actually have someone to talk to instead of the cold steel of the Remington rifle. Still, some people choose to hunt without a furry friend, making for a different hunting experience. When people hunt for rabbits without a dog, it is important to learn the traits and factors involved with rabbits. The hunter must virtually become the rabbit; learning the rabbits pathways and food stops are vitally important to a successful rabbit hunt, so thinking like a rabbit is integral to the success of the hunt. Of course, thinking like a rabbit may tell you that killing these furry little friends for sport isn't such a great idea. If that happens, ignore those facts and focus in on your goal of bagging a fluffy bunny.

The best time to hunt these furry creatures is during the first few days of the spring season. You'll usually find rabbits out on the open and bathing on the sun. During this time, you will have the best chance to bag one since rabbits are often hard to spot during the winter season when they cover up on bushes and blend in with the environment. You should also realize that rabbits have the habit of moving from side to side when they run. Hunters can use this to their advantage and base their shots depending on these repetitive and predictable steps.

In hunting rabbits, some hunters make the error of making too much sound as they move closer to the rabbit. The best way to bag one is by patiently and steadily following the target before letting go of the trigger. You can't just bolt in a rabbit field with your guns blazing as this won't earn you any catch.

All in all, the greatest way to hunt rabbits is through what is referred to as the stop and go approach. As the name implies, you employ small and soft steps as you approach the creature closer and closer.
